Planning to Pub Crawl on St. Patrick's Day?

by Vince & Stacy 03/04/2019

St. Patrick's Day is commonly a holiday that celebrates traditional Irish heritage. One of the most common traditions amongst adults is to participate in a pub crawl. Many bars participate by serving the most famous Irish brews. While this can present an exciting evening, it's important to be safe during a pub crawl.

Plan Ahead.

Planning the route for which bars you will visit will help everyone participating to have a good time. The last thing you want is to have to pause the night to find your next destination. Map out which bars you and your friends would like to visit and distribute the plan to everyone. If someone gets misplaced from your group, they'll know exactly where to find you. It is also good to plan on how you will return home that night. Have a designated driver amongst your group or plan on hiring a driver from a driving service such as Uber or Lyft. Everyone returning home safely should be a priority.

Pace Yourself.

It’s important to pace yourself when it comes to visiting each bar. If you’re one in your group to get too intoxicated to move to the next stop, it can cause frustration amongst your friends and bring a halt to a fun night out. Pace the amount you drink at each stop and know your overall limit for the night.

Buddy System.

One of the worst things that can take place during a pub crawl is getting separated from your group. Separation can also be more challenging depending on how much alcohol you've had to drink. Before the night gets started, have everyone in your group choose a drinking buddy. Your partner for the night will make sure that you arrive and leave each stop without wandering away from your group. Make sure that your whole group stays together and that you don't all end up at different locations at the same time. Being together is what makes the night worthwhile.

Emergency Numbers.

In the instance that you stray away from your group during the journey, be sure to know whom to call. Put your emergency contact on speed dial that way it is easy to reach them no matter how intoxicated you are. Depending on how many drinks you plan to have that night, you may also want to consider writing your emergency number on your arm in permanent marker. Doing so will ensure that if you get separated and lose your phone, you'll still be able to contact someone in your group.

Pub-crawling on St. Patrick's Day is the perfect excuse for a night out with friends. Don't ruin the evening for everyone by being unprepared and endangering yourself or others. Above all else, make sure everyone can get home safely. Book with an Uber or Lyft driver ahead to guarantee that everyone can have a great time.
